Atlantic Technical Tour

Agua Clara

Duration: 6 hours approx.

We will travel parallel to the Panama Canal by the Transisthmian Railway. From Panama City to the Atlantic Side to Colon Province, once we get to Colon we will visit the two set of Locks in the Caribbean Side,  Agua Clara Locks where you will see the Panama Canal from its best spot. At the Agua Clara Visitor Center of the Panama Canal Expansion, you would be able to appreciate this impressive infrastructure. The visitor center offers an impressive panoramic view of the area Panama Canal expansion in the Atlantic region, is an interactive way to understand all the development and construction of the Panama Canal expansion project.

Pacific Technical Tour

Panama Canal Partial Transit

Duration: 6 hours approx.

This tour gives you the opportunity to transit one set of Locks. Departing from Flamenco in Amador and goes right into the Miraflores Locks where is raised up to 54 feet in a two steps process. This activity is achieved by sending water from Pedro Miguel’s lake by gravity to fill the chambers where the ship is locked. Once the process is finished, get into Pedro Miguel’s Lake. Calling at Gamboa, you are then transferred to a bus to return to your hotel. The tour includes buffet lunch onboard the ferry boat and beverage.

The trip begins after midday, departure from the Riu Hotel’s main lobby (The final timing of this tour will be confirmed by the Panama Canal Authority a day before the activity). Also, the order of the transit might vary depending on the final schedule given by the Panama Canal Tour.

Sanitation Project

Bay Sanitation Project

6 hours Approx.

This Tour gives you the opportunity to understand and discover about the Panama bay Sanitation Project. The Treatment Plant of the Sanitation Project of the City and the Bay of Panama is located in the south east area of Panama City, specifically in the area of Juan Diaz

The Sanitation of the City and Bay of Panama is a State project aimed at solving the problem of wastewater in the capital of the country, discharged into streams, rivers and other tributaries, which produces high environmental pollution and generates risks of health for the population.

The project includes an interceptor tunnel, 8.1 kilometers long and 3 meters in internal diameter, which has the function of driving the wastewater from the collectors to the Pumping Station in Nuevo Reparto Panamá, 25 meters deep. It also includes a Line of Drive that takes the waters to the Treatment Plant of Juan Díaz. The Plant receives and treats optimally the waters generated in the capital and in the district of San Miguelito, allowing them to return to the Juan Díaz River, already disinfected. Through the treatment process, methane gas can be recovered, used to generate 18% of the electrical energy required by the plant in its operation.

Visitor Center & Museum

Miraflores Visitor Center & Frank Gehry Museum

Duration: 4.5 hours approx.

Visit the Miraflores Locks Visitors Center, where you can take the opportunity to pause and view the enormous ships that make their way through the Panama Canal. Visit the four exhibition halls, organized by themes that constitute the heart of this center.

Enjoy a spectacular view of the famous Panama Skyline while traveling via the Causeway to the former Fort Amador, while we get to the Frank Gehry Museum. The Amador Causeway was built from excavated material during Canal construction; it took 18 million yards of solid rock extracted from the famous Culebra or Gaillard Cut of the Panama Canal to build this Causeway. The Causeway was formerly part of a military base, which has been now transformed into a flourishing tourist attraction and marina.

Visit the Biodiversity Museum and explore the only building designed by Frank Gehry in Latin America and Panama to know how the planet changed when Panama merged to connect the Americas. From the Biodiversity Museum can be seen clearly the profile of the modern city, the Old Town, the “Cerro Ancon” and the Bridge of the Americas. “There was restricted to Panamanian while the former Canal Zone was ran by the USA”.
